Tom Busby is a pioneer in the trading industry. Busby is a world-recognized educator who emerged as one of the industry’s first trading professionals to TRADE LIVE in front of a crowd of his clients and peers at various venues around the country. He has served as an educator in weekly online webinars for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he has been a member since 2002.  He was also a Member of the Chicago Board of Trade, who has also called on Busby to trade live in CBOT sponsored events at some of the largest trade shows in the industry. (In July of 2007, the Merc and the Board of Trade merged and are now collectively named "CME Group.")

Busby takes a complex subject, the global markets, and puts it into an easy-to-understand language for all levels of traders and investors. As the CEO of DTI, a virtual trader’s paradise of information and education, he spends his days teaching his students and trading his own private accounts in futures, options and equities. SFO Magazine has called Busby’s school DTI, “One of the Top 10 Trading Schools in the Country."

Busby’s lifelong career in the markets started as a money manager with some of the world’s largest wire houses. He then moved into the private sector and started training others about the global markets. With guest spots on Bloomberg and CNBC, he is also the author of two best-selling books, Winning the Day Trading Game and The Markets Never Sleep. Busby hosts a daily online live trading room where traders from all over the globe join him as he covers the daily action in markets like the E-mini, the Dow and Dax futures, as well as his personal stock picks.  He is also the host of “The Market Buzz”, a radio show on the Houston-based BizRadio Network.

Tom holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctorate degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. He was a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Budget Officer School, and served seven years as an officer in the United States Air Force prior to becoming a professional securities broker and trader.

Geoffrey Smith serves as DTl's Chief Instructor and as a mentor to DTI Students via an online trading room. He offers daily market commentary during portions of the trading day as well as serving as the Senior Technology Officer. Geof earned a Bachelor's in Engineering in 1989 from Oklahoma State University and a Masters in Engineering from Southern Mississippi in 1992. He was employed with Nickles Industrial from 1991 through 2000 when he joined DTI. He had various positions while with Nickles starting as a design engineer and moving up to the Operations Manager position, which he had at the time of his departure.

Geof has been trading stocks for 15 years and was one of Tom Busby's first students while he worked with Merrill Lynch. While Tom was still developing the trading method that is now used at DTI, Geof and his brother Greg lived in a house together while attending Oklahoma State. Tom bought and sent them both a fax machine because he was technically challenged and couldn't send them anything over the internet. He sent them algorithms - moving averages, relative strength charts, etc, and they would chart the different statistics to see if they would work. Through trial and error they used the info to buy and sell in the stock market while learning more about how the markets worked.

Tom started using their findins more and more and the success of their trading increased greatly. Tom started DTI in the mid 90's. Geof continued working as an engineer at Nickles. Tom offered the teaching job to Geof. He declined at first because his engineering job was very rewarding. In 1999 Tom called Geof and said "Hey, come down here and see what I am going to build". At that time Geof was in management and no longer a hands-on engineer anymore. Tom made an offer to Geof to teach people what had become his hobby and life's passion: trading in the markets. The time was right and Geof said "YES."

Geof is the first point of contact for students in our Home Study Course, and our live Foundations Trading Class and Advanced Trading Class.  His methodical approach to training you includes a slow motion, easy-to-understand structure.
